Eye Care Tips for Hay Fever Season
The wildflowers are out in full force in Western Australia which means it’s hay fever season! If you’re struggling with dry, itchy, or watery eyes, we have a few tips to help you get through Spring.
Tip One
Avoid wearing contact lenses when the pollen count is high or in particularly dry or dusty conditions.
Tip Two
Wear sunglasses to help protect your eyes from pollen and dust circulating in the air.
Tip Three
Use preservative-free lubricant drops to help provide some relief for your eyes. There are also a number of effective over the counter drops for allergies, however, it’s best to consult an optometrist to check what option is best for you.
Tip Four
A cold compress such as a damp washcloth or chilled eye mask can also help soothe dry, itchy eyes.
Need some heavy duty care? Our optometrists can prescribe topical antihistamines to really get those hay fever symptoms under control.
